Situated on a ridge in the hills stretching from Florence to Siena, the fortified village of Volpaia with its medieval origins is home to the estate of Castello di Volpaia. The entire village serves as the "fattoria" for the superior wines, vinegar, and olive oil produced by the estate. The 10th century church pictured on the label is currently used as a wine cellar.
