Imported Italian Holiday Torrone
Torrone - a Christmas treat - that is simple by design and delicious by taste. The nougat (either hard/crumbly or soft/chewy) is produced with nuts, egg whites, honey and depending on regions and recipes additional hints of flavor such as citrus or vanilla.
The origins of torrone have been somewhat lost in time as many empires have had varieties of torrone-like confection. However, we do know that it is at least dated back to the 4th century Roman Empire and the torrone that we know and love today was invented in Cremona during the 1400's and was the inspiration for many of our favorite candy bars.
