Tenuta di Capezzana extra virgin olive oil (500ml) is a classic example of the intense, strong olive fruit and peppery elixir that is so much a part of Tuscan cooking. These NUOVO olives are harvested in late October when they are green, giving the oil the classic Tuscan flavor: essence of green grass, green apple, black pepper and a light bitter note on the palate. Crushed within hours of picking, and extracted with a continuous cycle processing, Capezzana's incredible fresh oil rarely exceeds 0.2% oleic acid, which gives the oil great transparency and intense flavor. The estate of Tenuta di Capezzana is just 25 minutes northwest of Florence in the small wine growing region of Carmignano. The Medici villa at the center of Tenuta di Capezzana estate was built for one of the Medici daughters as a wedding gift. Extra virgin olive oil has been produced on the estate since the year 980. Tenuta di Capezzana is a family affair; Count Ugo and Countess Lisa Contini Bonacossi and three of their children oversee the full production of the extra virgin olive oil and wine on the estate and even design the label.
