CATEGORY: Imported Italian Jams
For many years the Prunotto Mariangela farm has been growing its fruits and vegetables using organic methods. The Figs for this compote (called Composta di Fichi in Italian) are picked by hand in their orchards just at the right point of ripeness and processed within hours. They are simply cooked down with only the addition of sugar cane, obtaining a genuine product with a traditional taste.
This fig compote pairs nicely with freshly baked bread for breakfast, cheeses, meats including pork and chicken, and used in or on your favorite dessert.
PRODUCER INFORMATION | Azienda Agricola Prunotto Mariangela is located in Alba, the capital of Langhe Hill in the southern plains of Piedmonte. Prunotto uses only the fruit and the vegetables from their own organically-grown trees, to obtain a variety of exquisite jams, whole fruit, sauces, antipasti and honey. With everything processed within a few hours of hand harvesting, Prunotto is able to capture all the genuine flavors.
Recently, Prunotto also installed solar panels to produce their own green energy. This system has allowed them to begin to be self-sufficient in energy, while releasing lower CO2 emissions into the environment
